NFL Adoree' Jackson says Rams are 'dream team' What we learned

One thing to keep in mind: Pro-day testing results tend to be more favorable for prospects than NFL Scouting Combine results.

It's pro-day season, and College Football 24/7 is your one-stop shop for information and analysis on the on-campus workouts that allow draft prospects to make an up-close impression on NFL club personnel. Here's a look at the key takeaways from Wednesday's action.

Big draw: CB Adoree' Jackson

USC: Rams "dream team" for Jackson

Don't forget: WR JuJu Smith-Schuster

Attendance: Naturally, former Trojans head coach Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks came to USC's workout. GMs Doug Whaley (Bills) and Reggie McKenzie (Raiders) also attended.

The skinny: Jackson and Smith-Schuster both skipped the 40-yard dash testing at pro day; they were clocked at 4.42 and 4.54 in the 40 at the combine, respectively. Jackson described the Los Angeles Rams as a "dream team," having grown up a fan of the club. Jackson showed scouts his ability to field punts in a very unique way with a trick catch. ... RB Justin Davis, who did not run the 40-yard dash at the combine, turned in a 4.49 clocking at pro day, according to the school.Smith-Schuster wasn't clocked in the 20-yard shuttle at the combine, so he checked that box on Wednesday, and also came up with a nifty grab on a flag route during position drills. He said he improved from the combine in both the vertical jump (33.5 inches) and the broad jump (10-3), as well. ...

Big draw: RB James Conner

Pittsburgh: Conner completes drills missed at combine

Don't forget: QB Nathan Peterman

Attendance:  Peterman transferred from UT to Pitt in 2015. Also in attendance: former Pitt star Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams. There were 30 NFL clubs represented at Pitt, including Lions head coach Jim Caldwell. GM Kevin Colbert (Steelers) was reportedly there, as well as Buccaneers QB coach Mike Bajakian, who reportedly recruited Pitt QB Nathan Peterman to Tennessee.

The skinny: Conner and Peterman both passed on the 40-yard dash after running that event at the combine.Peterman said he has an upcoming workout scheduled with the Philadelphia Eagles. ... OL Adam Bisnowaty recorded a 4.91-second time in the short shuttle, and a 7.28 in the 3-cone drill. Conner participated in the 3-cone drill (7.41) and the short shuttle (4.31), both of which he skipped in Indianapolis.

Big draw: DB Obi Melifonwu

UConn: Melifonwu continues to impress

Don't forget: WR Noel Thomas

Attendance: Twenty-five NFL clubs were at UConn's workout, including the Jets' defensive coordinator and defensive backs coaches from the Panthers, Lions and Jets.
The skinny: If you thought Melifonwu would rest entirely on his stellar combine performance, think again. The Huskies' big safety ran a 7.06 time in the 3-cone drill and a 4.30 short shuttle, per NFL.com senior analyst Gil Brandt. He also reportedly turned in an unofficial 10.95 in the 60-yard shuttle, per masslive.com, filling in some blanks for NFL scouts that Melifonwu didn't provide in Indianapolis. The 60-yard shuttle time would have topped all safeties at the combine by a margin of more than a quarter of a second.

Big draw: DL Malik McDowell

Michigan State: Vikings take close look at McDowell

Don't forget: LB Riley Bullough

Attendance: The Vikings' GM and head coach, Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer, were reportedly a hands-on presence at McDowell's workout.

The skinny: LB Riley Bullough recorded 29 reps on the bench press at 225 pounds. ... Fullback Prescott Line repped the bench press drill 39 times, which would have been the highest total at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine.

Ashland: Positional workout for Shaheen

Big draw: TE Adam Shaheen

Attendance: Personnel from 16 NFL clubs were on hand, including tight ends coaches from the Steelers, Saints, Bears, Raiders and Lions.

The skinny: Shaheen has set up private workouts with six teams, per NFL.com senior analyst Gil Brandt. Coaches from the Raiders and Saints reportedly put him through his field work. After turning in a complete workout at the combine, what was left for Shaheen to show NFL scouts at his pro day? How about a few one-handed catches? He also went through position drills, giving scouts another look at one of the draft's most intriguing size/speed combinations at the position (6-foot-6, 278 pounds, 4.79 40-yard dash).

Also in action Wednesday: Central Florida,  Duke, Duquesne, Cincinnati,Elizabeth City State, Fresno State, UMass, Mississippi State, Missouri State, Northwestern State (La.), Weber State.
