Jagex revealed its plans for the removal of bounty hunter worlds in Old School RuneScape

Devs know when particular game content is being exploited by players. This certainly rings true with Jagex when it comes to RuneScape and OSRS. To remedy that, they tweaked a few things, and the content that was once exploited by players for OSRS gold finally becomes balanced. The same principle, however, doesn’t apply to Bounty Hunter worlds. For now, and hopefully not forever, they will be closed.

Earlier this week, Jagex revealed its plans for the removal of bounty hunter worlds in Old School RuneScape. The developer claimed that the minigame’s design left it susceptible to players who “abuse its mechanics to generate GP in excess of the amounts available via legitimate methods.” Although there weren’t any critical problems with the mini game, Jagex felt that bounty hunting “undermines other game content and the overall integrity of the game”.

The studio initially informed players of the player-killing minigame’s closure in an update post on the game’s website, saying it’s “sorry to announce that we’ve taken the decision to close the Bounty Hunter worlds until further notice”. The reason behind it, Jagex explains, is that the mode’s “design unfortunately leaves it prey to gold farmers, who abuse its mechanics to generate GP in excess of the amounts available via legitimate methods.” In addition, our site z2u.com has a large quantity of safe OSRS Gold For Sale.

While it seems the extent of this gold farming hasn’t yet reached a point where it’s impacting Old School Runescape’s in-game economy, the studio explains it “undermines other game content and the overall integrity of the game.” Due to the issues existing before a rework of Bounty Hunter in November 2019, the devs “do not believe that simply undoing it would solve them”, adding that “this is quite clearly not the outcome that any of us wanted, but right now we’re convinced it’s the best option available to us.”

Thankfully, this is only temporary, as Jagex has said that it’ll be back after a few months. The development will start in February, so it’s not going to be anytime soon, but better later than never! So, for those who make Old School RuneScape gold through Bounty Hunter, they’ll have to find a different way until it makes its much-awaited return. And even then, it’s unlikely to be the same Bounty Hunter mini-game like before, so this might not be the same gold mine it used to be.
